Spanish is one of the planet’s most widely spoken languages. It has the second highest number of native speakers in the world (485 million). Spoken in Spain and in Central and South America, with 42 million native Spanish-speakers in the United States where it is also the most learned second language.
Because of its climate and culture, Spain is where Europeans like to spend their holidays, very many of whom also have second homes in the country. Places like Benidorm, Marbella, Mallorca, Denia, Moraira, Ibiza, Tenerife, Torrevieja are place names that are now very familiar to many people in Northern Europe as being where they like to spend their holiday time and enjoy living in the sun for a few days or weeks every year.
